Frequently Asked Questions

How do I merge multiple PDF files into one?

Open the Merge PDFs tool, upload your PDF files in the order you want them combined, configure page numbering and Annexure stamping, then click Merge. The combined PDF downloads instantly to your device — no server upload required.

Can I split a PDF by file size limit?

Yes. The Split & Rename tool divides a PDF into chunks by maximum file size (e.g., 2 MB per part) or by custom page ranges. Each split file is automatically renamed as Annexure A, Annexure B, etc.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

Never. All tools run 100% in your browser. Your PDF files and financial data are never sent to any server. This means complete data privacy, no internet dependency for processing, and instant results.

Is a tax audit mandatory under Section 44AB?

It depends on your turnover and business type. Use the Tax Audit (Sec 44AB) decision tree to navigate the exact criteria — including presumptive taxation schemes, cash transaction thresholds, and professional income limits.

Can I sign PDFs digitally without uploading to the cloud?

Yes. The Digital Sign PDF tool places cryptographic signatures using local USB DSC tokens, PFX/P12 certificate files, or custom self-signed credentials — entirely client-side with no data transmission.

Frequently Asked Questions

What deadlines does the Compliance Calendar cover?

The Statutory Compliance Calendar covers all major Indian compliance deadlines — GST return filings (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9), TDS/TCS deposit and quarterly return due dates (Form 24Q, 26Q, 27Q, 27EQ), Income Tax deadlines (Advance Tax, ITR filing, Tax Audit), ROC/MCA annual returns (AOC-4, MGT-7, DIR-3 KYC), and PF & ESI payment dates. Data is sourced from official CBDT, CBIC, and MCA notifications.

Can I filter deadlines by entity type — Company, LLP, or Proprietorship?

Yes. Use the Entity Type filter to narrow down deadlines for Companies (Pvt/Ltd), Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP), or Proprietorships/Individuals. The Category filter further lets you view only GST, Income Tax, TDS/TCS, ROC, or PF & ESI deadlines.

How often is the Compliance Calendar updated?

The calendar is manually updated whenever CBDT, CBIC, or MCA issues a notification extending or modifying a compliance deadline. The last updated date is shown prominently at the top of the calendar. If a new circular is issued, we update within 24–48 hours of the official notification.

Can I print the compliance calendar for office use?

Yes. Click the 🖨️ Print Calendar button at the top right of the calendar. This opens a printer-friendly view of the current month's compliance deadlines, formatted neatly for A4 paper — perfect for pinning on your CA office notice board.

What is the penalty for late filing of GSTR-3B?

Late filing of GSTR-3B attracts a late fee of ₹50/day (₹25 CGST + ₹25 SGST) for returns with tax liability, and ₹20/day (₹10 CGST + ₹10 SGST) for nil returns. The maximum late fee is capped per the GST Council's amnesty notifications. Interest at 18% p.a. is charged on the outstanding tax amount for each day of delay.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which provisions of the Companies Act 2013 does this tool check?

The Company Law Calculator checks all major statutory thresholds under the Companies Act 2013, including: CSR applicability (Section 135), Internal Audit mandatory (Section 138), CARO 2020 applicability, Statutory Auditor rotation (Section 139), Small Company / One Person Company (OPC) classification, Board Meeting frequency requirements, Women Director mandatory appointment, Independent Director threshold, XBRL filing requirement, Secretarial Audit (Section 204), Cost Audit (Section 148), and more — all updated for FY 2025–26.

Is CSR mandatory for my private limited company?

CSR is mandatory under Section 135 if your company, in the immediately preceding financial year, has: Net Worth ≥ ₹500 Crore, OR Turnover ≥ ₹1,000 Crore, OR Net Profit ≥ ₹5 Crore. If applicable, the company must spend at least 2% of the average net profit of the immediately preceding three financial years on CSR activities and constitute a CSR Committee.

When is CARO 2020 not applicable to a private limited company?

CARO 2020 does not apply to a Private Limited company if it satisfies all of these conditions: (1) Paid-up share capital ≤ ₹1 Crore, (2) Turnover ≤ ₹10 Crore, (3) Aggregate outstanding borrowings from banks/financial institutions ≤ ₹1 Crore at any point during the financial year, (4) No outstanding debentures, and (5) No outstanding public deposits. If any one condition is breached, CARO 2020 becomes applicable.

What is the threshold for mandatory Internal Audit under Section 138?

Internal Audit under Section 138 is mandatory for: Every Listed company, Every Unlisted Public company with paid-up share capital ≥ ₹10 Crore OR turnover ≥ ₹100 Crore OR outstanding loans/borrowings from banks/PFIs ≥ ₹25 Crore at any point, and Every Private Limited company with turnover ≥ ₹200 Crore OR outstanding loans/borrowings ≥ ₹100 Crore at any point.

Does the tool generate a printable report for client presentations?

Yes. After entering your company profile and financials through the 3-step wizard, the tool generates a detailed Company Law Compliance Report showing which provisions are Applicable, Not Applicable, and Conditionally Applicable — with statutory references. You can then print or save this as a PDF for client files or Board presentations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What financial ratios does this tool calculate?

The tool calculates 25+ ratios across 5 categories: Liquidity (Current Ratio, Quick Ratio, Cash Ratio), Profitability (Gross Profit Margin, Net Profit Margin, EBITDA Margin, ROE, ROA, ROCE), Solvency/Leverage (Debt-to-Equity, Interest Coverage, DSCR), Efficiency/Activity (Inventory Turnover, Receivables Turnover, Asset Turnover, Working Capital Turnover), and Valuation (EPS). All ratios follow Indian GAAP under Schedule III Division I of the Companies Act 2013.

Can I compare current year and previous year ratios in the same report?

Yes. Switch to CY vs PY Comparison mode to enter both current year and previous year financial figures. The tool shows ratios for both years side-by-side and highlights significant changes — ideal for statutory audit working papers, management reports, and bank loan assessments (CMA data).

What is a good Current Ratio for an Indian company?

A Current Ratio between 1.5 and 2.0 is generally considered healthy for Indian manufacturing and trading companies. A ratio below 1.0 indicates the company may struggle to meet short-term obligations (liquidity risk). Ratio benchmarks vary by industry — capital-intensive sectors like steel or cement may operate at lower ratios, while FMCG companies tend to maintain higher ratios.

What is DSCR and why is it important for bank audits?

DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio) measures a company's ability to service its debt (principal + interest) from its operating cash flows. It is calculated as Net Operating Income ÷ Total Debt Service. Banks require a minimum DSCR of 1.25 to 1.5x for term loan sanction and renewal. A DSCR below 1.0 means the company cannot cover its debt payments from operating income — a red flag in credit audits and stock audit reports.

Can I upload a financial statement Excel or PDF to auto-fill the ratio inputs?

Yes. You can upload a Balance Sheet / P&L PDF, Excel (.xlsx/.xls), or CSV file. The tool will attempt to extract and auto-fill the standardized financial figures (Current Assets, Current Liabilities, Revenue, EBITDA, etc.) using keyword-based extraction. You can then review and adjust before generating the ratio report. An Excel template is also available for download if you prefer to fill figures directly.

    • Turnover up to ₹5 Crores: 4-digit HSN code mandatory.
    • Turnover above ₹5 Crores: 6-digit HSN code mandatory on B2B invoices.
  • Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM): Certain services (like Legal advisory SAC 9982) are subject to RCM, where the service recipient pays the GST directly to the government.

Frequently Asked Questions

What file formats can I compare with the Draft Auditor?

The Draft Auditor supports comparison of PDF files (text extraction and line-by-line diff), Word/DOCX files (paragraph-level additions and deletions highlighted in red and green), and Excel/XLSX files (cell-level changes across all sheets). Simply upload the original document (Draft A) and the revised document (Draft B) — the tool instantly shows you what changed.

Is this useful for comparing two audit reports or financial statements?

Absolutely. The Draft Auditor is purpose-built for CA workflows. Use it to: compare a draft audit report sent to the client vs the revised version returned, identify paragraph changes in Directors' Reports or Auditor's Reports between years, compare financial statement schedules in Excel between draft and final, or verify that no unauthorized changes were made to a signed document.

Are the uploaded files sent to any server?

No. All comparison happens 100% inside your browser. Your documents are never uploaded to any server, never stored, and never leave your device. This makes the Draft Auditor completely safe for confidential client documents, audit reports, and financial statements.

Can I compare Excel files sheet by sheet?

Yes. For Excel files, the diff view displays sheet tabs at the top. Click each sheet tab to view the cell-by-cell changes for that specific worksheet. Cells that were added, deleted, or modified are highlighted distinctly, making it easy to audit schedule-level changes in multi-sheet financial workbooks.

How is the PDF comparison done? Does it work with scanned PDFs?

PDF comparison uses text extraction from the PDF — it works best on digitally-created PDFs (e.g., PDFs exported from Word, Tally, or Excel). Scanned image-based PDFs have limited text extraction and may not produce accurate diffs. For scanned documents, we recommend converting to Word/DOCX using an OCR tool first, then comparing the DOCX files using the Draft Auditor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which bank statement formats are supported?

The Bank Statement Processor supports PDF statements from SBI (including WhatsApp-shared PDFs), HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank. It also supports Excel-format statements (.xlsx/.xls) from any bank. The parser extracts transaction date, narration/description, debit amount, credit amount, and running balance for every transaction.

Is my bank statement data secure? Is it uploaded to any server?

Your bank statement is processed 100% locally inside your browser using PDF.js and JavaScript. No data is ever uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any external server. The file never leaves your device. This ensures complete privacy and security — making it safe for auditors and accountants handling sensitive client financial data.

What export formats are available after processing?

After parsing, you can export the structured transaction data as: Excel (.xlsx) for import into Tally, Busy, or other accounting software, or CSV for import into any spreadsheet application. The MCS Software format option also generates entries with MCS-specific narration codes (CW, INTEBA, CD, SUSP) for direct import into MCS accounting software.

Why is the Bank Statement Processor useful for CA audits?

CAs and auditors frequently need to import bank statements into accounting software for reconciliation and analysis. The Bank Statement Processor eliminates hours of manual data entry by automatically extracting all transactions from a bank PDF. It is particularly useful for: Stock audit (verifying credits against debtors), Bank audit (transaction verification), Tax audit (cross-referencing with books), and Scrutiny assessment preparation under Section 143(3) of the Income Tax Act.

Can I process SBI WhatsApp bank statement PDFs?

Yes. SBI offers a WhatsApp-based bank statement service where customers can request a mini or full account statement via WhatsApp, which is received as a password-protected PDF. The Bank Statement Processor supports these SBI WhatsApp PDFs — simply enter the password when prompted (if the PDF is password-protected) and the tool will parse all transactions correctly.
